Who it is for
Families in Houston and the surrounding area — children from age 4, teenagers, adults and complete beginners.
How long it takes
Most students take 3 to 5 classes a week of 30 minutes, or 2 to 3 classes of 45 minutes for adults.
Class times for Houston families
Weekday classes from 3:30 pm Central, evening slots to 9:30 pm, and weekend mornings. Summer daytime slots are available during the school holidays.
Your slot is fixed in your local US time and stays at the same local time when the clocks change, so you never recalculate the schedule.
Why families in Houston choose one-to-one online classes
Houston is enormous and its Muslim families are largely suburban — Sugar Land, Katy, Pearland — where the nearest Islamic school can be a thirty to forty-minute drive each way in traffic that does not improve in the evening. The arithmetic defeats most families: an hour-long class costs two hours. The other thing particular to Houston is the long, hot summer, when in-person programmes thin out and children lose ground over several months. Online lessons continue through it, and daytime slots in the holidays are easier to fill here than almost anywhere else we teach.
Looking for a Quran teacher in Houston?
Students join us from Sugar Land, Katy, Pearland, Richmond, Missouri City, Alief, Clear Lake and Spring. Lessons are online and your teacher is matched on what the student needs — a female teacher, a Hifz specialist, a slot that works in your local US time — not on who happens to live near Houston.
Common questions
Can lessons continue through the summer holidays?
Yes, and we would encourage it. Children who stop for a long summer typically return a level behind where they finished. Daytime slots are available in the holidays, which many Houston families find easier than term-time evenings.
How long is a lesson, and is that enough?
Thirty minutes one to one is the standard, and it is more actual reading time than an hour in a group. Forty-five and sixty-minute lessons are available for older students and for Hifz.
We are in Katy and Sugar Land. Do you cover both?
Yes, and everywhere else in the metro area. There is no travel involved, so location makes no difference to availability or fees.
Can a parent sit in on the lesson?
Any parent may sit in on any lesson, at any time, without arranging it first. We would rather you did — children work better when a parent occasionally listens, and you will hear exactly what is being corrected.
